Jubilee Solo Show of the Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Petrov at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo show of the Honored Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Konstantin Petrov organized to mark the artist’s 50th anniversary.

Since his childhood Konstantin Petrov has been surrounded by the aura of creativity and destined to be an artist. His father, a talented graphic artist Vitaly Petrov-Kamchatsky fostered his son’s interest in art and taught him to understand and appreciate the beauty of nature. Konstantin Petrov successfully graduated fr om V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute and continued his education at the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe (Germany) and in the creative workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts.

He became a member of the Artists’ Creative Union of Russia and actively participated in prestigious art exhibitions. Konstantin Petrov spent some years in Spain wh ere he obtained more freedom of expression. His canvases were appreciated by art dealers and collectors. The artist tries his hand in various techniques, types and genres of fine arts preferring easel graphics and painting. His favorite materials are waters colors and pastel, his genre priorities – landscape and still life, he also distinguishes himself in portrait painting creating brilliant psychological images of our contemporaries.

The artist travels much in Russia and abroad constantly perfecting his professional skills and enriching his work by new often rare impressions, discoveries, images. His art obtains a special stylishness that reveals itself in lightness, emotional frankness of his recent paintings. The noted art historian Boris Vipper wrote: “… today genre, portrait and landscape are more understood  as still life, the still life has turned into a particular attitude”. It is this “particular attitude” and vision that can be seen in works by Konstantin Petrov.

The official opening ceremony for Konstantin Petrov’s jubilee solo show will take place in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts on November 11, 2014.
