Solo Show of Works by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Paskhina at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a retrospective of more than fifty works by the well-known Yaroslavl Sculptor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Paskhina.

Elena Paskhina graduated from the Abramtsevo College of Arts and Industry (1968) and I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture where she majored in sculpture under the noted masters V.B. Pinchuk and A.A. Divin.

She started her career as a sculptor in Yaroslavl. Her works have become an integral part of the artistic image of this old city, its historical environment and spiritual atmosphere. Among her sculptural compositions are: memorial on the battlefield of 1238 on the Sit” River, sculptural composition in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Yaroslavl’s foundation, a series of bas-reliefs for the Alley of Military Leaders in Yaroslavl, monument to the famous Russian tenor Leonid Sobinov, composition “Policeman of the Romanov Outpost”, monument to the Lokomotiv ice hockey team parished in the airplane crash, decorative group “Buffoonery” on the fa?ade of the Theater of Young Spectators, “Dream” composition, monument to victims of radiation accidents and disasters entitled Crane. Compassion and lyricism, heroics and humor have been implemented in various sculptural forms – from the classical naturalness to almost abstract generalizations.

The solo show at the Russian Academy of Arts also presents Elena Paskhina as a talented portrait painter. On display are portraits of Russian historical personalities and a gallery of her relatives and friends.

Elena Paskhina works in various genres and materials, her favorites in sculpture  are bronze and stone. Of special interest are her works where she combines glass and terracotta, bronze and stone (Young Peter I, The Abduction of Europe, Wedding and others).

Her works are in museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl and in private collections in Luxembourg, Germany, Great Britain, India and  the Czech Republic.
