The Architect’s Palette: Show of Works by the Honored Architect of Russia Valery Rzhevsky at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents works by the Honored Architect of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Valery Rzhevsky. Valery Rzhevsky is a noted Russian architect. For 35 years of his creative work he has authored over 200 designs of various objects of architecture including memorial complexes, industrial objects; sports, cultural, entertaining, apartment complexes; rest houses, ophthalmologic clinics, business centers, hotels in cities of Russia and other countries.

The creative image of the architect Valery Rzhevsky is distinguished by the diversity, precise combination of form and contents in every of his objects: from ethno-cultural nuances of his hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, the National Library in Kazan, Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Novorossiysk to the high technology complex of the Museum of Tu-154, sports objects in Sochi, Abrau-Dyurso, memorial complex “Gagaringrad” in the Smolensk Region and others. His conceptual project “UMKA” for the New Siberian Islands Archipelago in the Arctic Ocean has been appreciated by specialists from Norway, Great Britain, the United States, Italy developing the shelf.

The exhibition is a good opportunity to get acquainted not only with his architectural designs, but also with his paintings and graphic works. These are cityscapes, as well as compositions on historical and space themes. His refined en plain air drawings elaborately depict the originality of the city architecture of Dresden, Bratislava, Berlin, Prague. In his canvases he does not copy the nature, he generalizes it trying to achieve the utmost expressiveness of the image.

Valery Rzhevsky successfully combines his creative work and teaching activity. He is a Professor, Head of the Chair of the Department of Architecture at V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute.

Valery Rzhevsky is a Full Member of the International Academy of Culture and Arts, Member of the Union of Architects and Artists’ Union of Russia, winner of the Prize of FSB of Russia and prize in architecture “The Golden Section”, holder of the Silver and Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. He has participated in the architecture biennale in Berlin, Buenos-Aires, Rio de Janeiro, exhibited his works in his solo shows in Saratov, Kazan, Cheboksary, Harbin (China), Potsdam and Stuttgart (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Embassies of Chili and India in Moscow.
