Exhibition of Paintings by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Edward Putintsev in the Russian Academy of Arts

Organized to mark the 80th anniversary of the Honored Architect of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Edward Putintsev, the exhibition presents a major retrospective of paintings produced by the artist in various years.

Edward Putintsev graduated from the Moscow Institute of Architecture in 1955, worked in Yakutia where he was involved in the design and construction of apartment and public buildings. In 1960-1961 he studied at the Royal College of Art in Oslo (Norway). In 1963 Putintsev defended his thesis on the city construction in the North of Russia. He initiated and headed the Aikhal project – the first city with artificial microclimate for which he was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition in Montreal.

The Doctor of Architecture, Edward Putintsev has designed over 50 public buildings in many regions of Russia and other countries, he is an author of more than 70 research works and books.

Edward Putintsev has been actively traveling along Russia and other countries recording his impressions in his numerous drawings, paintings and watercolors. The exhibition explores his works since the late 1940s. These are landscapes of Middle Russia, Karelia, Altai, Magadan, Old Russian towns, Middle Asia, Norway, France, Mongolia, etc. Along with chamber, lyrical works the viewers will see the artist’s canvases of epical character.

Edward Putintsev is a master of sports in mountain climbing. He has made climbs in the Caucasian mountains, the Pamirs and Yakutia. His surprisingly picturesque watercolors - travel sketches full of the artist’s reverence before the greatness of the primordial nature have been highly appreciated by the public.

Edward Putintsev’s works are in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and other major museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
