Timed to the 80th anniversary of the artist, the exhibition entitled In the Silence of the Nature of Russian Province has been organized by the Russian Academy of Arts, Ministry of Culture of the Chuvash Republic, Artists’ Union of Russia.

The exhibition explores the distinctive gift of the recognized master of monumental and easel painting, who is in constant searches, actively experiments, reacts to major events of these days. Including mostly works of the last decade, the exposition shows the inexhaustible power of his talent, strikes a viewer by the richness and “reverberation” of colors, plastic temperament of the artist. The portraits, landscapes, still lifes on display are full of joy, love of life, exciting cheerful intonation and at the same time of the painter’s thirst for a deep philosophical understanding of the existence.

The creative work of Revel Fedorov is well known in Russia and other countries. Appreciated by the public and art collectors it has become an integral part of Russian art, started a new direction in Chuvash painting. Revel Fedorov belongs to the galaxy of artists who having studied the classical art school in their creative work have synthesized the achievements of the national and world culture. The aspiration for innovations can be sensed in his early works of the 1970s which revealed the artist’s original pictorial style. In his pictures saturated with metaphors and symbols one can recognize today’s realities. The philosophical essence of his world outlook is vividly embodied in his many canvases such as “My life, Behind What Hills…”, “Fresco about Bread”, “Golden Evening. My Parents”, “Cain’s Swing”, “Dionysius”, “Antigone”, “Allegory of Prosperity”, “Crossroads”, “Arabesques of Tukai” from the cycle “Landmarks of History as Living Wounds of Russia” and others.

The exhibition at the Academy highlights one of Revel Fedorov‘s dearest themes which is a foundation of his creative intuition. In unpretentious motifs of the peaceful Russian province, in the slowness of rhythms, quiet life of things the artist can discover a special world, an entire universe conveying the concept through the divine harmony of colors and reflecting on the everlasting values of the existence. Revel Fedorov has a delicate perception of nature and a visible form, he considers the work in the open air as a great sacrament. His works are full of the sensation of a symphonic unity between a man and nature, the adoration of the beauty of the surrounding world. At the same time, in all his canvases the artist remains a composer in painting who masterly uses his observations and experiences for the creation of a colorful polyphony of his artworks. His painting is full of hedonism and is deeply humanistic.

On display is also a series of the artist’s pen and ink drawings.

The artist was born in a peasant family, worked in a farm, graduated from the Art School in Cheboksary and graphic art department of the Kharkov State Art Institute, taught painting in a secondary school, worked as an art editor for the Chuvash book publishing house, for many years he taught in I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Teachers’ Training Institute. He has achieved a high professional and public recognition. Revel Fedorov was honored with state awards, including the Order for Services to Motherland 2nd Rank, awards of the Russian Academy of Arts. For many years Revel Fedorov has been heading the Artists’ Union of Chuvashia, was on the board of the Artists’ Union of the USSR, chaired the famous regional exhibition “The Big Volga”. Today Revel Fedorov remains a true leader of the art life in Chuvashia and a romantic in painting who surprises us by the youth of his art.
