Exhibition In Honor of the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945

Organized by the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, RF President’s Plenipotentiary in the Central Federal Region Georgy Poltavchenko and the Russian Academy of Arts, the exhibition in Tsereteli Art Gallery is devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory and is an expression of gratitude to artists who took part in the great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The exposition includes works by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, People’s Artists of the USSR and the Russian Federation, members of the Russian Academy of Arts, winners of the State Prizes, leading masters of Russian fine arts and architecture. These are painters E.I. Zverkov, A.P. Tkachev, S.P. Tkachev, A.A. Mylnikov, V.I. Pereyaslavets, M.I. Samsonov, T.T. Salakhov, O.A. Eremeev, A.P. Levitin, B.M. Nemensky, V.N. Korbakov, H.A. Yakupov, graphic artists I.T. Bogdesko, V.C. Vilner, sculptors V.E. Tsygal, N.B. Nikogosyan, G.D. Yastrebenetsky, master of theatrical and decorative art M.M. Kurilko-Ryumin, architect V.S. Egerev, Honored Art Worker P.G. Gromushkin and others.

Their works have stemmed from the truth of the war years. Front-line sketches, drawings depicting documentary scenes of war have become a basis for large-scale memorials and monuments, monumental and easel works on the topic of the Great Patriotic War including the siege of Leningrad, years of the post-war devastation, starvation and hard times.

On show are also works by younger generations of artists – L. Davydova, V. Demyanchuk, V. Psarev, K. Petrov, E. Romashko, V. Rzhevsky, S. Sokolov, P. Stronsky, A. Sytov who give their own idea of this heroic and fateful time.
