Metamorphoses: Solo Show of Works by the Celebrated Fashion Designer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Zaitsev

The Russian Academy of Arts and Vyacheslav Zaitsev Moscow Fashion House present works by Vyacheslav Zaitsev, the celebrated fashion designer, painter, graphic artist, creator of theatrical costumes. The show includes graphic works, photographs and models from his fashion collections.

Vyacheslav Zaitsev graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute. In 1967 he was awarded a Grand Prix for the design of his dress entitled “Russia” at the World Fashion Festival in Moscow. During that period he was highly appreciated in the European press as “Red Dior” for the integral connection of his unique talent with the best traditions of the world fashion.

Since 1982 Vyacheslav Zaitsev has been an Art Director of the Moscow Fashion House, 21 Prospect Mira. It is here that he has designed his Haute Couture collections which won the recognition in many countries, obtained a real creative freedom and virtuosity in professional skills. Vyacheslav Zaitsev promotes beauty through the art of fashion, that, as he believes, gives confidence to people and encourages good mood.

Zaitsev’s easel works have their own artistic value. Using original pictorial language the artist expresses generalized philosophical notions, associations and more often his feelings and emotions. Paintings and graphic works by Vyacheslav Zaitsev are decorative, full of symbols, complicated combinations of real and unreal, fantasies and live experience of the artist.

Vyacheslav Zaitsev’s works are in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of History of Moscow, in museums, galleries and private collections in Russia, the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium and other countries.
