Exhibition of Works by Nominees for 2009 Prize in Literature and Arts of the Central Federal District

On show in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts are works by  nominees for the Central Federal District Prize in Literature and Arts. The annual Prize for the most distinguished works in literature and arts was initiated in 2004 by the Russian President’s Plenipotentiary in the Central Federal District Georgi Poltavchenko.

 

The exhibition features landscapes, portraits, genre scenes, sculptural compositions, works of decorative, applied and folk art by artists from 18 regions of Russia. Aimed at fostering the development of literature and arts in Russian regions, the annual Central Federal District Prize is a major cultural action held under the auspices of regional governors and public figures.

 

The 2009 Prize will be awarded for the best work in literature and fine arts, for significant achievements in music and theatre art, development and preservation of folk art traditions, outstanding contribution to the promotion of Russian culture. The award ceremony will traditionally take place at the Russian Academy of Arts on  December 11.
