Paintings by Edward Bragovski in the Russian Academy of Arts

On October 7, 2008 the Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of paintings by  Edward Bragovski, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Winner of State Prize of the Russian Federation timed to the artist’s 85th anniversary. The exposition includes a retrospective of his artworks from the 1950s to these days.  Some of the works have never been displayed in public before.

Boris Bragovski is a noted master of contemporary Russian art promoting the traditions of the Moscow school of painting.  In spite of the simplicity of topics, his paintings are pictorial elegies generated by chords of delicate colors with a preponderance of blue, a color which is associated by the artist with the spiritual.  The artist expresses the subtlest shades of feeling and change of mood. The color has become an efficient means of searching for a world of his own and self expression.

Edward Bragovski graduated from of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute in 1953 and soon after was involved in active exhibition activity. The artist boasts, that he belongs to the generation of the1960s, who in the period of  cultural thaw stimulated and made a profound impact on the development of fine arts in this country.

The artist’s works are in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and State Russian Museum, they can be found in many museums in Russia and CIS, as well as in private collections.
