International Calligraphy Exhibition in the Russian Academy of Arts Museum in St. Petersburg

On September 16, 2008 the Russian Academy of Arts Museum in St. Petersburg will present the first in Russia International Calligraphy Exhibition aimed at the rebirth of historical traditions of handwritten texts and promotion of the art of calligraphy as a reflection of human culture.

The exhibition highlights the Museum’s collection of rare and unknown Slavic handwritten texts and old manuscripts of other peoples of the world. It will be an unparalleled opportunity to see writing and calligraphic instruments of various ages.   

On show are sample works by the world calligraphic schools from Russia, Europe, United States, China, Israel, Japan, Syria, Mongolia, Turkey, India, Australia, Taiwan, Palestine, Jordan and Brazil.
