Annual Show of Diploma Work by Graduates of I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture

From July 23, 2008 the exhibition in  Parade Hall of the  Russian Academy of Arts Museum in St. Petersburg will  feature 178 works by 2008 graduates of I. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

The most numerous is an exposition of the painting faculty that includes replicas from European and Old Russian paintings; photographs depicting artists-restorers at work with the originals that needed clearing, fixation and restoration of the primer and color layer;  sketches of church mural painting executed by graduating students of the section for church and historical painting; sketches and cartoons of monumental works for modern buildings and interiors by alumni of the workshop  for monumental and decorative painting; theatre designs and  models made in the workshop for theatrical and decorative  painting and a number of theme canvases  produced in the Institute’s four workshops of easel painting.

The faculty of graphic art is represented by easel works, book illustrations performed in special techniques and prints.

This year, the sculpture faculty boasts of its 18 graduates whose works, unfortunately, can be seen only in photographs because of some problems with moulding of the originals.

Visitors will also see blueprints and models which give an idea of the huge amount of work executed by students of the faculty of architecture.
