Exhibition of Paintings by Lekim Ibraghimov Entitled Kidnapping of Asia

From July 24 through August 10, 2008 on show in Tsereteli Art Gallery will be a Kidnapping of Asia exhibition of  paintings by Lekim Ibraghimov,  People’s Artist of Urbekistan, Academician of Urbek Academy of Fine Arts arranged in memory of  his old friend Chinghiz Aitmatov.

Lekim Ibraghimov is a recognized, distinctive painter best known for his poetic canvases depicting a deep link with an ancient culture of Turkic peoples with their original traditions.  In his works he resurrects not so much the realities of history as its mysteries, spirituality and poetry. They are his view from the past through eternal  spiritual values and contain a mystique and laconic wisdom of the Orient.

Lekim Ibraghimov was born in Alma-Ata region of Kazakhstan in 1945. He graduated from A. Ostrovski Tashkent State Theatre and Art Institute where he majored in graphic art. Since 1976 he has been an active participant of many home and international group exhibitions. His paintings were displayed at his solo exhibitions in France, Germany, Austria, Japan, China, India and other countries.
