Paintings by Catherine Grigorieva Are Exhibited in the Russian Academy of Arts

From June 24 to July 13, 2008 on display in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts will be paintings by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Catherine Grigorieva.  The artist is known for her keenness on color, spirituality, freedom of self expression.  The splash of color for her is a vital necessity containing both decorative and psychological senses.

A follower of Robert Falk, Paul Cezanne and Auguste Renoir, after beginning her creative path with works full of constant interest in pictorial psychologism, Grigorieva  strove to problems of color and also the unity of volume and space. The subjects of her paintings are mostly connected with peasant life and small provincial towns.

Since the late 1960s,  she is a frequent participant of group exhibitions in Russia, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Japan, the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria. Her paintings are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum and other museums of fine arts.
