Moscow – Artists – Moscow: Exhibition in Honor of the 75th Anniversary of Moscow Artists’ Union

     The jubilee exhibition in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Moscow Artists’ Union was inaugurated in Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow on November 24, 2007. The ceremony was attended by the Russian Minister of Culture and Mass  Communications Alexander Sokolov, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, celebrated artists, politicians and figures of culture.
     The Moscow Artists’ Union comprises over 6600 professional artists.  The exhibition has been arranged under the auspices of Moscow Government and presents the rich variety of  Moscow fine arts world.
     The exhibition hall’s stylized decoration resembles Moscow environment with its “streets” and “squares”.  The “park of sculptures” presents works by noted Moscow sculptors. Nearby is a selection of works by applied art. The central area is occupied by numerous paintings of Moscow art school from the 1930s to these days. The exposition also includes a division dedicated to monumental art and recreated cathedrals. Design of billboards, posters, signboards features the image of modern capital’s streets.
     At the opening ceremony a number of works by Moscow artists have been donated to Moscow children’s orphan asylums.
