Exhibition of Yakut Art in Tsereteli Art Gallery

     December 4, 2007 – December 9, 2007. Organized by the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the National Art Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Russian Academy of Arts to commemorate the 375th anniversary of Yakutia as a part of Russia, the exhibition entitled From the National Folk Epos Olonkho to New Reality – Art of Yakutia features paintings, drawings, sculptures, folk applied art together with a significant number of carvings, works made of birch bark,  samples of national weaving.
     The exhibition in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, Moscow, has been arranged within the framework of  Culture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) program.  
     The great antiquity of national Yakut traditions  is depicted in modern Yakut art.  Having  absorbed the best traditions of Russian art school, artists from Yakutia have created their own aesthetic base powered by two great sources – folk traditions and world art legacy.
